This Privacy Policy explains what data GeoAim (geoaim.fun) collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. By using the site, you agree to what is described here.
GeoAim was built to run almost entirely on your own device, with no server of ours storing personal data and no account required. Here's exactly what is collected, why, and what stays only on your device:
If you allow it, we use your browser's geolocation to determine your approximate position and calculate the direction between you and the randomly selected country, which is the core calculation of the game mechanic. This calculation happens locally on your device. To determine which country you're in — used, for example, in the share-result message — we send the latitude and longitude to the BigDataCloud service, which returns the corresponding country code. Their privacy and cookie policy is available at bigdatacloud.com/privacy-and-cookie-policy. If you don't grant permission, you can manually select the country you're playing from; in that case we only use that country's registered center point, without collecting your real location. Permission is always optional, controlled by your browser or operating system, and can be revoked at any time.
For the compass mode, GeoAim reads your device's orientation sensors (deviceorientation), processed entirely on the device in real time, solely to rotate the game's dial, and this data is never sent to any server. If your device doesn't have a reliable compass, or if you prefer, there's a manual mode where you point the direction by dragging with your finger/mouse.
The game also stores some information in your browser via localStorage, such as your chosen language, country of origin (when manually selected), and Daily Challenge results/streak. This data is not sent to any server of ours, stays only on your device, and can be deleted at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser.
When you use the share-result button, the text is copied to your device's clipboard via the browser's Clipboard API. Nothing is sent to us in this process — you decide where to paste and send it.
To display fonts and icons, we load files from two external services: Google Fonts and Font Awesome via cdnjs/Cloudflare. When loading these files, your browser connects directly to these providers' servers, which may log standard technical information from any web request, such as IP address and user-agent.
GeoAim is supported by advertising and uses Google AdSense to display ads. To do this, Google and its advertising partners may set and read cookies and use device identifiers to serve ads, including — where permitted and, in regions such as the EEA/UK, where you've consented — personalized ads based on your browsing activity on this and other sites.
On your first visit, GeoAim shows a cookie banner where you can accept or reject non-essential/advertising cookies; your choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so we don't ask again. You can change your choice anytime by clearing your browser's site data for GeoAim, which brings the banner back on your next visit. If you reject, ads may still be shown, but only in non-personalized mode.
You can learn more about how Google uses data from sites and apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage or opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com. We do not sell your data; any sharing that happens is limited to what's needed to serve and measure ads through AdSense, as described above.
We process location data only based on your consent, granted through browser permission and revocable at any time. Since practically all of GeoAim's data is stored only in your own browser, you already have full control over it: simply clear the site's data in your browser settings to remove it. GeoAim is not specifically directed at children and does not intentionally collect personal data from minors beyond what is described above.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features to the game. The date at the top of the page will always indicate the most recent version.
